The company development services at Digipolis are provided by the limited company Kemin Digipolis Oy and Kemi-Tornio University of Applied Sciences / Technology. The company development services comprise the different elements needed at the various phases in the life of a company, from the assessment of a business idea and assistance with the business plan to the creation of co-operative networks, product development and commercialisation.

  • Innovaattori Business Incubator Company

Digipolis has been providing business incubation services since 1993. The activities are coordinated and managed by Kemin Digipolis Oy.

The Innovaattori Business Incubation Service assists new entrepreneurs who have a business idea, specialised expertise and innovative competence in their own field, as well as the aspects necessary for successful, fresh and creative business operations within the operational area of the Business Incubation Service. Innovaattori offers new entrepreneurs an open and business-minded environment in which to learn, share experiences and network with other companies.

The establishment and development of a company is a demanding process requiring a diverse range of information and skills. Incubation is an efficient process to further develop a business idea, since Innovaattori offers the opportunity to investigate and implement the idea in co-operation with experts. Our extensive and diverse expert services and network are here to support and assist entrepreneurs in this process.

Each incubation or development agreement is valid for a period of one year. Innovaattori provides office space and other facilities for permanent or temporary use at reasonable rental rates; general services, such as telephone exchange or office services; and machinery and equipment for shared use. If necessary, the entrepreneur is provided with targeted training and the necessary support resources, such as laboratory facilities, specialised machinery and equipment, or personnel support in the form of students carrying out thesis work or an internship. The service can also organise tailored staff training for the company in question.

Innovaattori also provides access to consultation and guidance on improving one's entrepreneurial competence, product development, business idea development and technological transfer services. Assistance with financing, such as incubation support for investments and development activities, loans and equity funding, are also included in the services offered by Innovaattori.

  • WelCome service

WelCome is a service for those looking to establish a new company. The service was developed to encourage and pave the path to entrepreneurship. The WelCome package provides entrepreneurs with establishment guidance (developing a business idea, market surveys, technological surveys, business planning), an equipped office (15 m²), a computer, a printer, a telephone and Internet access. In addition to the facility management services, the entrepreneur will receive, for the duration of the WelCome period, all of the normal office complex services provided by Digipolis (incl. lobby services, office services and conference services). The WelCome service is free of charge to new entrepreneurs and available for a period of four (4) months.

  • Company R&D services

Kemin Digipolis Oy has launched development services specifically intended for small and medium-sized companies in the area. The services will assist companies in developing their operations and implementing development projects.

  • Heavy High Tech service

The aim of the Heavy High Teach regional development programme is to further strengthen the industrial expertise, the competitiveness of industrial services and the development environment within the Kemi-Tornio region. The business-oriented development strategy being promoted under the name ‘Heavy High Tech from Lapland' has been jointly created, updated and implemented by companies and actors through co-operation established in 2007. The founding idea behind the strategy can be summed up as follows: "By innovatively combining the diverse industrial and arctic expertise in our region with new technology for cross-border intelligent industrial solutions, we will achieve added value and a solid future for industrial companies both in Lapland and around the world".
